NAFECMLSS HISTORY
History Of The NAFECMLSS National Conference
Christian Medical Laboratory Science Students had been gathering in different schools across the nation. They bear different names, had different administrations and leadership, though, they all seem to have the same purpose.
Medical laboratory science as a profession was facing a lot of difficulties, students had tough time going through (the institute exam was almost a giant)... hence, the need for the Christians to come together to pray and share the word. Some, of these fellowships had great passion for evangelism, some stood strongly on establishing Gods righteousness...
However, there was no common front. In fact there was nothing called NAFECMLSS until 1990 when under divine arrangement, the hearts of the leaders of the various school fellowships were stirred up to come together under the same umbrella. Coordinating all these moves was Bro. Dele Popoola (now Rev).
By Gods own working, these moves, underlined by various meetings, culminated in the first NAFECMLSS national conference in the year 1990, held at the redemption camp and themed: "Walking in His Steps".
This conference eventually gave birth to the first elected National executives of NAFECMLSS with Bro. Zac Jeremiah-Awortu (now Dr.), the President and University of Calabar Teaching Hospital, the first national secretariat.
THE NATIONAL FELLOWSHIP CONSTITUTION.
The national fellowships constitution was drafted that tenure (this was reviewed in 2000). In the first newsletter sent by the national secretariat, these words form the basis for the unifying bond existing in NAFECMLSS till date; “The time has come when we all will begin to see ourselves as one body irrespective of the cadres were (whether AIMLT, B.Sc, Technician or Assistants).
The first meeting between the national executives and the executives and representatives of different chapters (called NCCM), took place on the 25th August 1991 at Calabar.
It is worthy to note the representatives to the chapters present;

- UBTH - Bro. Lawrence Qsamudiamen
- LUTH - Bro. Smart Nwauju
- ABUTH - Sis. Nonye
- OAUTH - Bro. Joseph Oyekanmi
- UCH Bro. - Yinka Adeyinka

Three schools, National Vetinary Research Institute, (NVRI), Vom, Federal School of Medical Laboratory Technology, (FSMLT), Jos, and NOH Enugu were not represented.
The first zonal coordinators were elected at the 1991 National conference.
From just seven chapters (present at the 1991 NCCM), NAFECMLSS has now grown to around 20 chapters and is still expanding.
The vision: Presenting Everyman Perfect, had been and is still till today. This godly vision cannot die and it will keep expanding. Successive tenures have passed now yet the fellowship is just waxing strong and stronger. ALL GLORY BE UNTO THE LORD.
